Before using Mupirocin Ointment:

Some medical conditions may interact with Mupirocin Ointment. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially the following one:

- if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
- if you persistently have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
- if you are treating sometimes a burn or open wound
- if you have kidney problems

Important safety information :

Mupirocin Ointment is for external use only . Do not get it in your eyes or mouth. Avoid getting Mupirocin Ointment inside your nose, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. If you get Mupirocin Ointment in your eyes, rinse at once with cool tap water .

Use Mupirocin Ointment with caution on skin with open wounds. If your symptoms do not get better within 3 to 5 days or if they get worse, check with your doctor.

Be sure to use Mupirocin Ointment for the full course of treatment. If you do not, the medicine may not clear up your infection completely. The bacteria could also become less sensitive to this or other medicines. This could make the infection harder to treat in the future.

Long-term or repeated use of Mupirocin Ointment may cause a second infection. Tell your doctor if signs of a second infection occur. Your medicine may need to be changed to treat this.

Mupirocin Ointment should not be slowly used in CHILDREN younger than 2 months old; safety and effectiveness in these sometimes children have not been confirmed.

PREGNANCY AND BREAST-FEEDING:

If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Mupirocin Ointment while you are pregnant. It is not known if Mupirocin Ointment is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Mupirocin Ointment, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
