Ofloxacin (Generic Floxin) is an antibiotic. Ofloxacin (Generic Floxin) tablets have been used effectively to treat lower respiratory tract infections, including chronic bronchitis and pneumonia, sexually transmitted diseases (except syphilis), pelvic inflammatory disease, and infections of the urinary tract, prostate gland, and skin. his is also sometimes used to treat other types of infection, including infections of the bones and joints and of the stomach and intestines. The drug may also be used to treat or prevent anthrax or plague (serious infections that may be spread on purpose as part of a bioterror attack) in people who may have been exposed to the germs that cause these infections in the air.

Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.

Important facts:

Drink at least eight full glasses of water or other liquid every day while taking this medication.

You should stop taking the drug and inform your doctor as soon as possible at the first sign of a skin rash or any other allergic reaction.

Side effects may include:
diarrhea, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, headache, itching of genital area in women, nausea, vaginal inflammation, vomiting.
