Therapeutic actions: Oftaquix contains the active ingredient levofloxacin. Levofloxacin belongs to a group of medications called a quinolone antibiotic.

Levofloxacin kills a wide variety of bacteria that cause infection. Levofloxacin works by entering the bacterial cells and inhibiting a bacterial enzyme known as DNA-gyrase. This enzyme is essential for the bacteria to replicate and repair the genetic material (DNA). Levofloxacin is effective against Gram-positive bacteria:Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes; and Gram-negative bacteria: Branhamella (Moraxella) catarrhalis, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Indications: Levofloxacin is used to treat eye infection caused by levofloxacin susceptible microorganisms. Levofloxacin drops is also used to treat the purulent complications after ocular surgery.

You should not use Levofloxacin :

    * If you have hypersensitivity or allergy to any of Oftaquix ingredients.
    * If you are pregnant.
    * If you are breastfeeding.
