Celexa (Citalopram) is a selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor used to treat depression. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Therapeutic actions:
Citahexal is an Antidepressant that belongs to a group of medicines called selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor. By inhibiting serotonin re-uptake, Citalopram increases the amount of serotonin, resulting in mood improvements. Citalopram also blocks histamine, M-choline receptors, adrenoreceptors. Citahexal improves emotional conditional and mood, removes dysphoria. It aslo stimulates physical activity and enhances the mental processes.
Indications:
Citahexal is used to treat the following conditions:
Depression of a different aetiology
Panic disorders
Contraindications and cautions:
You should not use Citalopram in the following conditions:
Hypersensitivity to Citalopram
Unstable epilepsy
Kidney failure
Treatment with MAO inhibitors
Pregnancy
Breastfeeding
In children under 18 years old.
Manic episodes of manic depression (bipolar affective disorder)
Talk with your health care provider prior to taking Citalopram in the following conditions:
Elderly age
History of suicidal behavior or thoughts
People who receive electro-convulsive therapy (ECT)
People taking antipsychotic medicines
History of mania or hypomania
Liver disorders
Kidney disorders
Diabetes
Epilepsy
Bleeding disorders
Warning!
Do not drive or operate any machinery while taking Citalopram
Avoid alcohol drinking while taking this medications.
Regularly check your sodium blood levels while taking Citalopram.
Stop taking Citalopram if you experience seizures.
Do not suddenly stop taking this medication as you can develop withdrawal symptoms.
Side effects:

Digestive symptoms: diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain
CNS: headache, increased sweating, tremor, nervousness, agitation, dizziness, loss of memory, insomnia

antiplatelet medicines such as aspirin, clopidogrel or dipyridamole
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): ibuprofen or diclofenac
some antipsychotic medications
some antisickness medicines: prochlorperazine
tricyclic antidepressants, eg amitriptyline.
duloxetine
lithium
tramadol
tryptophan.
rasagiline
sibutramine
triptans used to treat migraine, eg sumatriptan
