PROGESTERONE ® contains micronized progesterone. Progesterone has a molecular weight of 314.47 and a molecular formula of C21H30O2. Progesterone (pregn-4-ene-3, 20-dione) is a white or creamy white, odorless, crystalline powder practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, acetone and dioxane and sparingly soluble in vegetable oils, stable in air, melting between 126° and 131°C. Progesterone is synthesized from a starting material from a plant source and is chemically identical to progesterone of human ovarian origin.

Therapeutic actions:
Progesterone is a hormone of the yellow body. It binds with the receptors on the surface of the cell enters the nucleus where it activates the DNA to synthesize RNA. The hormone promotes change of the mucous membrane of the womb from the phase of proliferation to secretory form, and right after the fertilization produces the necessary conditions for the implantation and development of the egg to be successful. Lowers the sensitivity and contractility of the wombs and uterine tubes muscles, stimulates the development of the mammary gland. Promotes the development of normal endometrium. The main effect that is used in the medicine is change of the lining of the uterus.
What is it used for?:

Progesterone is used for the following cases:
• Pregnancy support if the body produces insufficient hormones.
• Hormonal dysfunction that leads to infertility if insufficient progesterone is produced.
• The drug is used also as hormonal replacement therapy in trans-women
• Recurrent pregnancy loss due to low levels of progesterone
Contraindications and cautions:
Do not use Progesterone in the following conditions:
• If you have hypersensitivity to progesterone or peanuts
• If you have breast cancer or urogenital system cancer
• If you are pregnant without your doctors approval
• If you had an abortion
• If you have liver and heart disease
• If you have blood clotting problems
Any of the following conditions should be reported to your health care provider:
• Pregnancy
• Diabetes
• Breastfeeding
• allergies to certain foods or drugs
• Problems wit blood clotting
• Smoking
• Severe obesity
• Systemic dysfunction as: liver dysfunction, renal failure, heart attack or others.
• Should not be used in children
Be cautious when on Progesterone therapy:
• Alcohol abuse can lead to increased side-effects
• You may not be able to operate machinery when using Progesterone.
Side effects:

• Change in breast sensation, enlargement, tenderness
• Diarrhea

• Weakness and tiredness

• Allergy
• Vaginal bleeding
• Blood coughing
• Gall bladder disorders
• Fainting
• Numbness or swelling of the joints
• Lumps in the breast or breast pain
• Seizures
• Severe abdominal pain
• Sudden vomiting
• Vision disorders
• Jaundice
• Liver dysfunction
