Pilocarpin reduces the amount of
fluid in the eye, which decreases pressure inside the eye. Pilocarpin is used
to treat glaucoma or ocular hypertension (high pressure inside the eye).

Pilocarpin hydrochloride
Therapeutic actions:
Pilocarpine controls production of fluids by the salivary and lacrimal glands and is used because of that property for a long time to treat glaucoma. By reduction of fluid the eye pressure drops thus stopping the symptoms of Glaucoma development.

Pilocarpine ophthalmic is used to treat Glaucoma through relieving its symptoms.
Contraindications and cautions:
If you plan to use Pilocarpine be sure to consult your health care provider on the following:
• allergic reaction to Pilocarpine
• Mixing with other eye drop medications
• If you ever had asthma, ulcers, seizures, heart disease of different genesis, thyroidism, hypertension, intestinal or urinary problems or Parkinson's disease be sure to mention it to your doctor
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding
• surgery including dental surgery
Side effects:
