Description
Treatment of abnormal, sticky, or thick mucus secretions in various lung problems (eg, chronic emphysema, bronchitis, asthmatic bronchitis, pneumonia, during anesthesia, following surgery or various lung tests).

Therapeutic actions:
ACC is a mucolytic agent. Presence in ACC structure of sulfhydryl groups promotes break of disulfide bridge of sputum acidulous mucopolysaccharides, that leads to mucoprotein depolarization and to mucus ropiness reduction. The medication keeps activity at presence of purulent sputum. ACC promotes increase of glutathione fusion. When using ACC as a prophylactic application in patients with a chronic bronchitis and mucoviscidosis reduction of exacerbation frequency and severity is marked.
What is it used for?:
• acute and chronic diseases of lower divisions of respiratory tract with defluvium including bronchitis, multiple bronchiectasis, bronchial asthma, bronchiolitis;
• mucoviscidosis;
• laryngitis;
• sinuitis;
• otitis media.
Contraindications and cautions:
GIT: seldom – heartburn, nausea, emesis, diarrhea.
Allergic reactions: seldom - skin eruption, itching, urticaria.
Cases of bronchiospasm, collapse development and stomatitis and rhinitis brginning are described.
ACC should be prescribed to newborn only if extremely needed and under strict doctoris control.
Tetracycline should not be used simultaneously with ACC; interval between taking those two medications should be no less than 2 h.
At pregnancy and breast-feeding the drug is prescribed only under absolute indications.
Side effects:
Hypersensitivity to the medicine components.
Interactions:
In some cases at simultaneous taking of ACC and nitroglycerine vasodilator effect intensification of nitroglycerine and increase of its ability to brake thrombocyte aggregation is observed. Taking in complex of acetylcysteine with antibechics can intensify begma engorgement because of cough reflex suppression.
